More About Us

bulletWe believe
bullet

in one God known to people in three persons - God the Father who created the universe; God the Son, Jesus, who came to earth, died, was raised back to life again and who will return to reign as King; God the Holy Spirit who is God present with us now.

bullet

that the Bible is the word of God and can therefore be trusted for teaching on all matters of life and faith.

bullet

that all people have fallen short of the ideal way of life that God would have us follow.

bullet

that through the death of Jesus, God’s Son, on the cross, a way has been made for us to be forgiven of all things that we may do wrong.

bullet

that God, through the Holy Spirit, is present and active in our world today and wants to be present and active in the lives of individuals.

Who we are

We currently have about 80 people attending morning worship each Sunday. Members of the church come from a broad cross section of backgrounds with some people travelling in from other areas around Grimsby.

We have a growing Sunday Club and a number of young families. Activities during the week cater for a range of ages from Parents and toddler groups, youth clubs and uniformed organisations and ladies groups to name a few. We also have a strong house group system with 5 midweek house-groups.

Our Sunday Morning worship is varied in style making use of both modern and traditional music. Music is led by our Music group. Members of the congregation also take part in worship through reading, leading prayers, leading children’s talks, drama, giving testimony etc. There is also use of visual images through the regular use of a video projector.

We have regular family services, which are planned by members of the congregation where the worship is informal in style. On regular Sunday Mornings the preaching is usually considered central to the service. This is in line with the church’s teaching on the authority of scripture.

As part of our three year-plan we have recently been trying to develop further the prayer-life of the church (we are currently involved in the 24/7 prayer movement) and our work in evangelism. As a church we take seriously our role of bringing the gospel to the people in our community through evangelism and service.  Click on this link to read our three year plan SCARTHO METHODIST CHURCH

We tithe all our church income, giving away 10% of our income each year to national charities. We also have a Community Fund which is used to provide help in local circumstances as and when it is needed.
